Innovation in action

Introducing a new product?

Our services help you cut time-to-market and time-to-volume.

A great product idea deserves commercial success. But designing for high-volume manufacturing is a challenge. If you’re a small business, you may not have all the resources in house. If you are a large organization, specialist expertise can be vital in cutting costs and reducing risks.

In either case, we can help with prototyping, pilot production, supplier selection, and design for quality and reliability. We can work with you early in development to identify potential manufacturing issues and design them out before they cause problems. So your initial small-run production will scale up to large volumes without a hitch.

Looking to improve your innovation, manufacturing or supply chain?

Our consultants work with you to implement lasting change.

Whether you want to fill your innovation pipeline, implement “lean” manufacturing or streamline your logistics, we can help. Our consultancy and interim project management cover the entire value chain, delivering pragmatic, practical solutions.
In ideation, we help you ignite and sustain creativity, but always in line with your strategy and end-user needs. In business process improvement, we analyze and advise. But most importantly, we work with you and your teams to create real, measurable improvement. Through hands-on support, training and knowledge transfer, you achieve sustainable change in your operation and innovation.

Need help with health & safety?

Our experts ensure sustainability.

Protecting your customers, your employees and the environment is a demanding task. Our experienced experts help you find your way through today’s complex regulations and environmental health & safety legislation.

They can advise on risk avoidance, explain potential liabilities, and train you and your teams in new skills and ways of working. As always, we take a practical approach ensuring you meet the latest requirements without interruption to your business or unnecessary cost.

MRI-based
mammography

A mammogram can be uncomfortable and daunting. So patient comfort and a streamlined workflow were crucial for a medical systems customer developing a mammography solution with integrated biopsy facilities. This was a multi-party, multi-site project covering two continents. We developed the design and architecture of the trolley and mechanical interfaces. In addition, we provided end-to-end project management, supervised third-party product development at four suppliers and set up the supply chain for production at the customer’s factory. We also supported the customer during validation, field testing and market introduction.

Personalized
hotel experiences

An innovative hotel chain wanted to deliver affordable, luxury facilities for “mobile citizens”. We helped them create a customizable room environment that allows visitors to control lighting, heating, blinds, TV, etc. via a unique “moodpad”. Our support in concept development, system design and implementation all helped in bringing this award-winning hotel concept to life.

LED-based mini projectors
light source

LEDs enable all kinds of colorful, energy efficient lighting applications. One customer wanted to use the technology as a light source for portable projectors. This involved integrating optics, electrical interconnects and chip cooling features into a single IC package. By re-using semiconductor assembly technologies to make tiny reflectors, we enabled the customer to move quickly through the development and prototyping phases.

Improving solar
cell efficiency

Solar cell efficiency is key to the uptake of this green technology, but it is complex to achieve, depending on many design, format and material parameters. To help our customer improve the efficiency of their cells, we developed an experimental approach to rapidly analyze the many physical processes involved in cell operation (optics, photon-conversion, electrical). From these investigations, we identified the key parameters and interactions affecting efficiency. This allowed us to quantify the effects of the customer’s design choices, and create design guidelines to maximize efficiency.

Semiconductor VIPs
(vias and integrated passives)

System-in-Package (SiP) solutions combine multiple dies into one package, squeezing more functionality into smaller products while keeping costs down and performance high. With deep experience in semiconductor technology and markets, we helped a leading semiconductor manufacturer develop new manufacturing processes for next8-generation SiP products. This called on our skills in process design, advanced IC packaging, thin-wafer processing and assembly techniques to create processes for through-wafer interconnects and integrated passive components that enable complete, high-performance SiP solutions.
