Contextual task analysis: (focus group) interviews, field observations, etc.

In order to develop the best solutions, it is essential to know about product usage (actual and anticipated), the users’ expectations and desires, and the usage context.

 

There are many methods for this; here shows some examples:

  • a focus group interview with target group users about an existing product
  • observations in the usage context that was the basis for a task analysis diagram (right)
