User profiling: personas

Using personas helps focusing on specific user groups. A persona is an archetypical user from a user group. For each persona, relevant characteristics are described, from e.g. information like age, living situation and daily routines, to attitude towards technology.

Preferably, these personas are based on end-user research, like interviews or field observations (see next paragraph).
